I have been spending a lot of time in the studio recently working on ideas for my students for my forthcoming workshop at Mairangi Bay Art Centre. I like to try out my ideas first before getting my students to try them, as I believe I can not ask them to do something I would not do myself.
This time I am working on a stylised face – a very different style for me – in fact historically I have avoided faces. Having some irrational fear of not being able to do a ‘good’ face. However since trying a workshop by Tamara Laporte called ‘fabulous faces’ I have gained more skill and of course more confidence.
So if you sign up for my November workshop at Mairangi (dates to be announced soon) – then you may be having a go at creating a face of your own. This one is still a work in progress but I am having so much fun with it! Nice to see you here!
